It is that time of year again, in which we assess the current and emerging kitchen trends, and make our predictions for the most popular ones. So, here are the ones that we think are here to stay:
Marble everything!
We have had our eye on this trend for a little while now and witnessed it slowly creeping in. It is a very stunning choice for any room in the house. The kitchen is no exception – if you have a marble kitchen going into 2022 you are definitely ahead of the trend.
Lightwoods
On the odd occasion, we see opposing trends, which at the end of the day just depend on your preference. The lightwood trend is currently up there with the all-black, dark tone kitchen, which is a top design trend for the entire house as we approach 2022. Warm, light woods are best, such as Home Concept’s Summer Oak or Saxon Oak. These wood finishes for your cabinets are a fantastic choice for your new kitchen. The best way to complete this trend is with a beautiful stone worktop.
The Dark Side
On the other end of the spectrum, we have the trend of an all-black room. Take this trend from your bathroom to your kitchen this coming year! And when we say “all-black” we mean it, black cabinets, black countertops, black walls, absolutely everything. Explore all our Home Concept colours and decide which trend you will use in your new kitchen.
Bright Splash
Be prepared to break the rules when it comes to colour. This is a season of unexpected colour combinations and bright pops of colour. You don’t even have to commit fully, you can start off slow – introduce pops of colour. See what works for you and what doesn’t. Once you know what you like you can use it to transform the room. Change the colours of cabinets, window frames, handles, paint a wall, small things make a huge impact.
Kitchen Island x2
Why have just one kitchen island, when you can have two? Make a statement with a double kitchen island set up! It is visually appealing and a practical choice for more counter space. If you have a large kitchen we would definitely recommend this option for you.
Open Shelving
If you are unsure about what to use for your upper cabinets, there is a trend for that. This one isn’t a recent trend, but we decided to include it because it is still going strong! Open shelves instead of closed cabinets. This trend turns your possessions into decor, displaying crockery and cutlery is very popular at the moment. Another awesome little style tip is to display wooden utensils in wicker baskets on your countertop and any decorative chopping boards too, it’s a great way to make use of that little counter corner of your kitchen.
Chat to us about your kitchen design, will you be using any of these trends in 2022? We hope that our favourite trends will inspire you to have fun designing your new kitchen and encourage you to enjoy the process, break the rules and most importantly have fun with it!
